It's a pretty safe bet
that not many musicians have started their stage career as a consequence
of being knocked out cold!
Young Gerry on a family holiday was
watching his brother during a swimming contest. Gerry recalls waking up
in hospital to discover that a
Tannoy
speaker had separated from its mounting, its fall, cushioned by Gerry's head.
Compensation was used to fulfil his
long time ambition, his first electric guitar. Guitar lessons went
too slowly for Gerry and, more to the point, he was practising hard and it
didn't take long before the tutor was no longer required.
As soon as he left school Gerry joined his first band, NORWEST COUNTRY playing 'country and western' -
his career had begun. |
