After playing with Norwest Country
for 12 months, Gerry concluded that rock n' roll would be his next target.
He joined The Shades and then on to The Envoys.
He recalls that the local legend Billy Barker was the key to The Envoys
success and this ensured a regular flow of much needed cash. Gerry
decided that his wife and new baby were a greater priority, he would
return to The Envoys and Arizona County but not on a regular basis.
Divorce from his wife and three children had a dramatic effect and it
would take sometime for Gerry to recover from the edges of a near
nervous breakdown. Thankfully he was able, with the help of friends,
to regain lost time. It was one of these friendships that created the
circumstances that has led to his one-man guitar-soloist show which he
continues to perform today. |
